Over
the last few years Smalltown Romeos have become a familiar name in the
Dutch guitar-pop scene. After releasing their self-titled debut album
in 2000, the Eindhoven-based band caught the attention of VPRO, Kink
FM-radio and regional stations in the south and east of the country
with "She Looks Like Jodie Foster", an irresistible popsong
about a supermarket check-out girl.
The second single, "Love To You Now", was played daily during
the "Week Of Dutch Pop Music" on the leading Dutch radio station
3FM.
Their single Superman or Charlie Brown remained over ten weeks in KINKFM´s
Outlaw41. A Videoclip was shot in February 2003.
A
new single is out now: Remember To Forget. Video for this single was
made in one take! September 2003.

After
recording the first album as a singer/songwriter duo, consisting of guitarist
Eric
van Dijsseldonk and drummer Gabriël Peeters, the band expanded with
bass player Willem van Wordragen, reinforcing their strong harmonies.
Smalltown Romeos became a tight rocking trio, impressing audiences everywhere
with a combination of "nice noise" and great songs with catchy
melodies.

The
new album "Superfiction"
(MonkeyMan/V2 Records) shows a clear and brilliant progress. A surprising
mixture of Britpop and Americana, skillful songs and bubblegum-pop; melancholy
and madness. Produced by Wouter Planteijdt (Sjako!), "Superfiction"
is a mature guitar-pop album, that will surely find its way to the heart
of true music lovers everywhere. Smalltown Romeos are touring the Netherlands
to promote the new album. On stage they are assisted by multi-instrumentalist
Joost Botman. At the end of November 2002, "Superman Or Charlie Brown"
wasl released as the first single from Superfiction. |
