Smalltown
Romeos in Doornroosje Nijmegen
October 22 2002
Great sound
with Smalltown Romeos.
Last Tuesday we wrote about the Smalltown Romeos concert in the Effenaar
(Brabantia evening). We thought the volume was up too high. This did not
work for the excellent vocals from singer Eric van Dijsseldonk. But it
can be different, as was proven Wednesday night at the benefit concert
for Merleyn that was held in Doornroosje. (bla bla about Merleyn I left
out - your translator)
Frank Anthonie from newspaper the Gelderlander wrote about Smalltown Romeos:
"Fabulous band!"
cries one of the spectators excitedly to his neighbour. His enthusiasm
being more than obvious. Smalltown Romeos were really ready for it this
evening and warmed themselves up almost eminently. Their set sounded quite
un-Dutch, drenched in sixties, covered in Americana sauce. Their sound
was sublime, firm but not too loud. Let them cherish a mixer like that!
